SUNFLOWERS at the International Conference in Belgrade

Kosice, September 29, 2026

Researchers from the SUNFLOWERS project presented their results at the international conference Advanced Ceramics and Application XIV in Belgrade. Their participation brought not only scientific presentations and a Best Poster Award, but also new opportunities to strengthen international research cooperation.

From 21 to 23 September 2026, members of the SUNFLOWERS research team participated in the 14th Conference of the Serbian Ceramic Society, Advanced Ceramics and Application XIV, held in Belgrade, Serbia.

The SUNFLOWERS project was represented at the conference by Assoc. Prof. Andrea Strakova Fedorkova, PhD., Veronika Niscakova, PhD., and PhD student Jakub Lescinsky.

In her lecture, Assoc. Prof. Andrea Strakova Fedorkova presented research activities in the field of energy storage, one of the key research areas of the SUNFLOWERS project. Veronika Niscakova and Jakub Lescinsky presented the results of their research through scientific posters.

A significant achievement for the Slovak team was the Best Poster Award, received by Jakub Lescinsky. The award also highlights the quality of research carried out by young scientists involved in the SUNFLOWERS project and the successful presentation of the project’s results to the international scientific community.

The visit to Belgrade was not limited to presenting scientific results. Following the conference, members of the team visited the Department of Physical Chemistry in Belgrade, where they held discussions on opportunities for future research cooperation.

The discussions focused on shared research topics and the possibility of preparing a new joint project that could further strengthen cooperation between the participating research institutions.

Combining the presentation of research results at international scientific events with direct discussions between research teams is an important part of the SUNFLOWERS project. It enables not only the exchange of new knowledge, but also the development of new partnerships and the preparation of joint research activities for the future.

Participation in Advanced Ceramics and Application XIV therefore represented another important step in the international presentation of the SUNFLOWERS project, while also providing new impetus for scientific cooperation in the field of materials and technologies for energy applications.

The SUNFLOWERS project contributes to the development of cutting-edge research in battery technologies and supports the establishment of international partnerships that are essential for strengthening the competitiveness of Slovakia and Europe in the strategic energy storage sector.

Within the SUNFLOWERS project, the Slovak Battery Alliance is responsible for communication and educational activities aimed at both professional audiences and the general public.

The SUNFLOWERS project (09I02-03-V01-00022) is co-funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan of the Slovak Republic through the Research and Innovation Authority (VAIA).
