Assoc. Prof. Andrea Strakova Fedorkova, RNDr., PhD., Chairwoman of the Slovak Battery Alliance (SBaA), achieved outstanding success in the prestigious Slovak Woman of the Year 2026 awards. She first won the Science and Research category and subsequently received the competition's highest honour – the title of Absolute Slovak Woman of the Year 2026, awarded to the overall winner selected from among the laureates of all categories.

This exceptional recognition acknowledges her many years of scientific excellence and her significant contribution to advancing research, innovation, and international scientific collaboration. For more than 15 years, Andrea Strakova Fedorkova has been conducting research in battery technologies, with a particular focus on electrochemistry, nanotechnology, and battery systems. Her work has contributed to the development of battery prototypes featuring unique designs. She is the author of more than 160 scientific publications and co-author of six patents in the field of advanced battery technologies.

As Chairwoman of the Slovak Battery Alliance, she actively fosters collaboration among universities, research organisations, industrial partners, and public institutions to support the development of Slovakia's battery ecosystem. She also serves as the coordinator of the SUNFLOWERS project, which focuses on the development of advanced battery technologies and on strengthening Slovakia's research and innovation capacity in the field of energy storage.

"I see this award above all as a recognition of the work of all the colleagues, students, and partners with whom I have had the privilege to collaborate. Science is a team effort, and only by working together can we develop solutions that deliver real benefits to society," said Andrea Strakova Fedorkova after receiving the award.

The Slovak Battery Alliance regards this prestigious recognition not only as an acknowledgment of the exceptional achievements of its Chairwoman, but also as a tribute to the entire Slovak scientific community. It reaffirms that high-quality research, innovation, and close cooperation between academia, industry, and the public sector are essential for strengthening Slovakia's competitiveness and advancing strategic industries such as the battery sector.
