An interdisciplinary workshop was held at Pavol Jozef Safarik University in Kosice as part of the SUNFLOWERS project, focusing on the development of battery systems and energy storage in Slovakia. The event was organized by the university and attended by the Slovak Battery Alliance (SBaA) together with Slovak partners of the project.
The aim of the workshop was to discuss specific activities and define practical steps to achieve the objectives of the SUNFLOWERS project in Slovakia. The discussions took place in an interdisciplinary format, bringing together psychologists, lawyers, and geographers who analyzed current challenges in the field of battery systems and prepared groundwork for a public opinion survey. The survey will help to better understand the needs and attitudes of citizens and industry toward battery technologies.
“The workshop confirmed that the successful implementation of battery solutions requires cooperation between academia, industry, and the public sector. Together, we identified concrete activities and tasks that will contribute to achieving the objectives of the SUNFLOWERS project,” said Assoc. Prof. Andrea Strakova Fedorkova (UPJS), who is also the Chair of the Slovak Battery Alliance.
The event highlighted Slovakia’s commitment to developing its battery industry in order to move closer to countries where this sector is already well established. Achieving this goal will require effective legislation as well as a positive public perception of battery technologies.
